I require a $50 non-refundable deposit to book your date. Balance is due when we sign the marriage license.
My policy is simple: if you cancel your wedding within 21 days of the scheduled date you are responsible for the entire fee since I have saved the date.
The $200 deposit is nonrefundable should you cancel your wedding, but if you simply reschedule the date, we are happy to transfer it to the new one.

I have no policy as an Officiant, since you pay me day of wedding. But as a Day of Wedding and Wedding/event planner we would have a contract and a $100 non refundable deposit and depending on reason I would not charge you my full rate and I do expect a call and reason. Common courtisy

No one has ever cancelled an event! If there is sufficient notice, I would refund money paid. If it is closer to the event, perhaps half refund. I would work it out individually with each couple.

To secure the wedding date and time there is a nonrefundable honorarium deposit required at the time of the signing of the agreement of understanding. The nonrefundable balance of the honorarium is due four weeks before the scheduled wedding date.
I require a 50% deposit upon signing the wedding officiating contract. That deposit is non-refundable in the event of a cancellation.
